ARES Simplex Net

The Lancaster Amateur Radio Emergency Service ( ARES) KC2LAS  works very closely with the emergency services in the Town of Lancaster including: Office of Emergency Management, Lancaster Volunteer Ambulance Corps, and local fire departments.

The members of ARES drills on a regular basis with both digital and  phone communications.

Training is held on the second Tuesday of each month.

On most Monday’s following our General Membership Net on our repeater, club members gather on 146.400 MHz to conduct a simplex net. During the net, participants are asked to check-in at various power settings and on different power supplies (back-up, AC, DC, etc.). The objective of the net is to demonstrate the efficiency of simplex and how it can be used in an emergency situation.
