W2SO • Serving Western New York & Southern Ontario since 1987
1987–2027 • Four Decades On The Air

The club reaches its 40th anniversary in 2027, four decades after its founding in March 1987.
This page is designed as the central location for anniversary announcements, historical photos, commemorative merchandise, member memories and special operating activities.
We are preparing a historical report about LARC’s founding, members, activities, achievements and service to the community. Current and former members, families, friends, neighboring radio clubs and community organizations are invited to contribute.
Digital files, scans, photocopies and original materials are welcome. When possible, identify the people and call signs shown or mentioned and include the approximate date, location and event.
Email information and digital materials to 40th@w2so.org. Materials may also be brought to a club meeting or open house or given to a club officer. Please contact the club before providing original materials so arrangements can be made to copy and safely return them.
No contribution is too small. Every item can help preserve and tell the story of the Lancaster Amateur Radio Club.
Five local amateur radio operators founded LARC to meet the need for a club serving the eastern suburbs of Buffalo. More than twenty hams attended the first meeting.
