Seven evening sessions with John, W2JM • October–November 2026
This free course is open to the public and is intended for current Technician Class license holders preparing to upgrade to General. The room comfortably seats six students. LARC members receive priority through Sunday, October 11, 2026; nonmembers are placed on a standby list until then. Anyone beyond capacity is placed on standby. Current General license holders seeking a refresher may attend only if space remains after Technician license holders are accommodated; they remain on standby until the first class.
Email w2jm@arrl.net with the subject General Course Student. Please send a new message, not a reply to the announcement. Include your best phone number, call sign, and LARC membership status. If you do not have email, call John at (716) 404-9256. Enrollment requests are handled first come, first served subject to member priority and room capacity.
John will contact enrolled students about a week before the first class. If you have not heard from him by Wednesday, October 21, contact him again.
Each session runs 7–9 PM. There are no classes Wednesday, November 4 or 11.

The course is based on the ARRL General-class License Manual (10th edition), but buying it is optional and another General exam manual is fine. Manuals will not be provided. John will email the question pool and discuss the answers in class. Print the emailed pool and bring it in a half-inch three-ring binder, along with writing instruments. Alternate arrangements can be made for students without email.
Course fee: none. Students cover their own manual, printing, binder, writing materials and exam fee.
