Join LARC for Museum Ship Weekend!

Calling all Lancaster Amateur Radio Club members! Get your gear ready and clear your calendars. We are heading to the shores of Lake Erie for a unique operating event that combines history, great views, and some rare HF contacts.

This June, LARC will be setting up camp at the Dunkirk Lighthouse to participate in the annual Museum Ship Weekend.

We will be activating the Coast Guard Buoy Tender CG-45313. If you’ve visited the lighthouse grounds before, you may know this vessel—the one with the orange hull, dry-docked right by the water and the restroom facilities.

We’ll be operating under our club call, W2SO, and we want you there to help us work the pile-ups!

Event Details

  • When: Saturday, June 6th & Sunday, June 7th

  • Where: Dunkirk Lighthouse Grounds (Right on Lake Erie)

  • The Vessel: CG-45313 Coast Guard Buoy Tender

Why You Should Come Out

  • Rare DX: Help us put a unique piece of Coast Guard history on the air.

  • Camping: Several of us will be camping on-site for the duration of the event—there’s nothing quite like late-night HF operating by the lake.

  • Community: It’s a great chance to catch up with fellow LARC members, share some tips, and enjoy the lighthouse scenery.
