Details of the ARRL Year of the Club. [The What?]
If you enjoy working a "Pile Up", then this works for you.
Think about all those hams trying to "Work all States". Or yourself wanting to earn "Worked all States". There are additional endorsements with this "ARRL Year of the Club" including:
WAS - CW
WAS - Digital
WAS - Phone
PLUS WAS ALL
- From 0000h UTC January 7th through 2359h UTC of January 13th you can operate on any band, this INCLUDES 12m, 17m and 30m (ANY and ALL BANDS EXCEPT 60 meters)
- ANY Mode (Phone, CW, Digital etc.)
- Any time of day during those dates
- Within you license class as an individual or if we have the club house open with an Extra Supervising you... anywhere within the band spaces you cannot yet work with your current license
- You operate as "Whiskey One Alpha Whiskey stroke Papa" - "W1AW/P". Yep W1AW - ARRL out of Newington CT. in celebration of the ARRL's "Year of the Club".
- ALL logging MUST BE ELECTRONIC and that ADF file uploaded to LoTW; where LoTW will record and validate all QSO's!
- You "run the open frequency you found and record the QSO's"
- Chatter or minor rag chewing about who you are and about the club you represent or the equipment you are operating from is encouraged.
- So, it is "NOT a CONTEST" but you are trying to engage as many other hams as you can within your self-assigned time frame.
- You claim a time / band / mode to operate at a website shared with other New York State hams; basically, that border includes those Counties Eastern edge, being cut by New York State I-81! The Adirondacks and Down State New York each have their own week. "We" operate from 0000h UTC January 7th through 2359h UTC of January 13th!
- Then this happens again in August of 2026. So, if you need a few states to earn the WAS - ALL you have time!
